Overview of MiniSAP Plus (+) Utility for ABAP Stack

The ‘MiniSAP+ ABAP’ application is a collection of operating system scripts, easily executed from a desktop icons action menu items. They work together to improve the MiniSAP Administrators experience while learning the SAP ABAP Stack technologies.

Installing ‘MiniSAP Plus (+)’ will add a ‘MiniSAP+ ABAP’ application to the operating system. The Gnome desktop will only show it in the application list after you have installed the official MiniSAP Developer Edition and rebooted the operating system.

These action menu items simplify the execution of common tasks.

  • Use ‘Terminal Window’ to open a new terminal window, giving you access to a command line.
  • Use ‘Set User Name & Password’ to update the operating system username & password details of the user account that controls the MiniSAP services. Like NPLADM and HXEADM.
  • Use ‘Set MiniSAP Auto-start’ to automatically start the MiniSAP services after the operating system user logins in.
  • Use ‘Start MiniSAP Services’ to manually start the MiniSAP services of the installed MiniSAP Developer Edition.
  • Use ‘Stop MiniSAP Services’ to manually stop the MiniSAP services of the installed MiniSAP Developer Edition.
  • Use ‘Reboot Machine’ to do a clean shutdown of MiniSAP services, before the guest operating system is rebooted.
  • Use ‘Shutdown Machine’ to do a clean shutdown of MiniSAP services, before the guest operating system is shut down.

Recommendation: Add the ‘MiniSAP+ ABAP’ application to the Gnome favourite applications list on the left side.

Disclaimer: The ‘MiniSAP+ ABAP’ application capability is for MiniSAP Developer Edition installations only. Never use it in a production system because the NPLADM user password is stored in a plain text file. This is intentionally insecure, prioritising convenience over security, for a ‘Developer Only’ installation in a virtual machine on your personal laptop.

To be clear, this is not an Enterprise-grade solution.
Do not use it in any commercial organisation environments.
